We’re taking a break from our daily routine to head deep into the mountains for three days on an adventure that’s more than just another hike to the summit.

El Plomo is one of the most historic hillshistory in the Central Valley, and at over 5,400 meters, it watches over and protects the valley of the metropolitan region.

Day-by-day itinerary

Day 1

Approach - Camp Federación

8:00 AM - We meet at the La Parva/Valle Nevado Ski Center parking lot 8:30 AM - Briefing and welcome snack / Loading the pack horses 9:30 AM - Start of the approach trek to Federación Campsite 1:00 PM - Remote lunch / trail ration 4:00 PM - Federación Campsite, rest period, and summit briefing 6:30 PM - Dinner and rest at camp

Day 2

Summit - Camp Federación

5:30 AM - Breakfast at Camp Federación + briefing 6:30 AM - Start of the ascent to the summit of El Plomo (approx. 8 hours) 1:00 PM - Lunch at the summit 4:00 PM - Arrival at Camp Federación 5:30 PM - Celebration and dinner 7:00 PM - Rest at Camp Federación

Day 3

Descent and return

8:00 AM - Breakfast at Camp Federacion 9:30 AM - Packing bags and loading porters' packs 10:00 AM - Start of the descent hike 12:00 PM - Lunch in the wilderness / trail ration 3:00 PM - Wrap-up and celebration at the parking lot.

Federation Camp

Central Andes

Federación Base Camp is the main acclimatization point and rest stop (4,100 meters above sea level) for the ascent of Cerro El Plomo in the Metropolitan Region. It serves as an excellent hiking and high-altitude mountaineering route, offering spectacular views of the Santiago Valley and the Andes. All with the Rimaya touch, ensuring the utmost comfort and the best possible experience, even at 4,100 meters above sea level.

Round-trip transportation to the starting point (Centro Ski La Parva or Valle Nevado)

These programs require participants to be in good physical condition and have intermediate trekking experience. For safety reasons, our team of guides will need to assess each participant’s experience before confirming their spot. Weather conditions will be a key factor in confirming the program or communicating any necessary changes to the itinerary. Once confirmed, participants will receive a complete gear list, and we will schedule a pre-trip meeting to go over all the details.
